Manny Garner recovered a fumble and returned it 50 yards for the winning touchdown with a minute left as host Beacon rallied to beat the Byram Hills football team, 26-21, on Saturday.
Beacon trailed, 21-20, in the waning minutes and Byram Hills had possession. The Bobcats opted to go for it on fourth-and-2 at midfield, but fumbled. Garner scooped up the loose ball and took it back as the Bulldogs improved to 2-2.
Beacon had converted on its own dramatic fourth-down play two minutes earlier. On a fourth-and-12, Alex Benson caught a 50-yard pass. Andre Davis then scored a 3-yard TD that had pulled Beacon within 21-20, but the point-after kick was blocked, setting up the dramatics in the final minutes.
Jaden Navarro threw a 70-yard touchdown to Benson in the first half.
Beacon hosts Eastchester at 3 p.m. Saturday.
